Green PET Masking Tape for Powder Coating
Powder coating, electroplating and anodising all need the same thing: a mask that survives the process, holds a clean edge, and lifts without leaving adhesive on a finished surface. Green PET silicone masking tape is the usual answer.
Where it is used
- Powder coating masking — protecting threads, bore holes, grounding points and mating faces through the cure cycle.
- Electroplating and anodising — stopping plating on areas that must stay conductive or unpainted.
- Baking and stoving lines — holding through paint cure temperatures.
- Electronics masking — protecting contacts and gold fingers during coating.
- General high-temperature masking — anywhere a clean removal matters more than ultimate strength.
Why the tape is green
Green is not decoration. High-contrast colour makes it obvious to an operator which areas are masked and, just as usefully, makes it easy to confirm that every piece of tape has been removed before the part moves on. On a busy coating line that check matters more than it sounds.
What the silicone adhesive does
The silicone adhesive is what allows the tape to release cleanly after a thermal cycle. Acrylic and rubber systems can leave residue or become difficult to remove once they have been through an oven — residue that then has to be cleaned off a finished surface, which is exactly what the mask was supposed to prevent.
Ordering custom widths
Coating operations rarely use stock widths. Masking narrow threads and masking a large face are different jobs, and the tape is normally slit to the width the part needs, with die-cut shapes when the geometry is repetitive. Send the masking drawing or a sample part, the process temperature, and the annual quantity — that is enough to recommend a gauge and quote.
